C.N. Bryant, Borger, Dies
BORGER, April 4 (Special) - Charles Newton [sic] Bryant, 51 years old, one of the most familiar figures around Borger in the city's boom years, died at 6:30 P.M. yesterday after an illness of several weeks. He had lived in Borger since the city's birth fourteen years ago.
For the first 11 years of Borger's existence Mr. Bryant was water hauler. He drove the wagon which carried water to the people of the town. During those years Borgans bought water in about the way they now buy milk. Water cost 50 cents a barrel. Barrels were left on people's porches, and Mr. Bryant came by regularly and filled them.
Surviving are his widow, three sisters, Mrs. Hattie Seaborn of Shawnee, Okla., Mrs. Liddie Tower of Mosts, N.M., and Mrs. Minnie Rhyne of Channing; a son, Mike, of Tucumcari, N.M.; a step-son, J.C. Owens of Port Arthur.
Rev. H.P. Garrett of the Fellowship Baptist Church will officiate at service to be held at 11 A.M. Saturday in the Carver Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery here.
