Funeral services for Jack Carpenter, 61, of 309 Veta, will be at 3 p.m. Friday in the Fellowship Baptist Church with the Rev. Max Smiley, pastor, officiating and the Rev. Jerald Chadwick, pastor of the Faith Baptist Church in Dumas, assisting.

Burial will follow in Highland Park Cemetery under the direction of Minton Mortuary.

Carpenter died Wednesday afternoon in St. Anthony's Hospital in Amarillo.

He was born Aug. 19, 1913 and has been a resident of Borger for the past 32 years.

He was employed as a welder for Daco Lease and Well Service and was injured in an accident on Feb. 12 when his clothes caught fire while he was welding.

He suffered leg and hip burns in the mishap and had been hospitalized since.

Survivors include his wife, Alta Mae of the home; a son, Billy of New York, N.Y.; two stepsons, Charles and Jackie Cowan, both of Borger; four stepdaughters, Mrs. Delena Patton of Amarillo, Mrs. Joyce Chadwick of San Angelo, Mrs. Linda Alley of Panhandle and Mrs. Peggy Dobbs of Fritch; two brothers, Paul of Borger and Leonard of Eakley, Okla.; two sisters, Mrs. Lucille Taylor of Eakley and Mrs. Alice Spencer of Midwest City, Okla.; and 13 grandchildren.

Casketbearers will be A.F. Casey, Jack Painter, Leroy Powell, Jim Davis, Marvin Mills and Malcolm Dobbs.

Honorary casketbearers will be the employees of Daco Well Service.

Alta Mae Carpenter,67, of 523-C Mississippi St. died at 2:30 a.m. today in North Plains Hospital.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Minton Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Don Hughes, pastor of the New Testament Baptist Church, officiating.

Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery by Minton-Chatwell Funeral Directors.

A native of Pauls Valley, Okla., she had been a Borger resident for 41 years. She was a housewife and a Baptist.

Survivors include four daughters, Delena Collins of Fritch, Joyce Chadwick of San Angelo, Linda Alley of Turon, Kan., and Peggy Dobbs of Fritch; two sons, Charles Cowan and Jack Cowan, both of Borger; a sister, Pauline North of Eloy, Ariz.; a brother, Calvin Davis of Kingsburg, Calif., 15 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
