Obituary:
FOLLETT — Dr. Raymond Alfred "Doc" Ivie, 90, of Follett died Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012, in Booker.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Fairmont Cemetery near Follett. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Perryton.

Dr. Ivie was born Oct. 27, 1921, in Newtonia, Mo., to Fred and Carrie Dee Ivie. He graduated from Texas A&M University in College Station in 1945 with a doctorate in veterinary medicine. He married Orpha Fleming in 1945, and the couple made their home in Follett, where Doc owned and operated Panhandle Veterinary Clinic for 42 years. He established a partnership of veterinarians and clinics in Follett, Perryton, Spearman and Beaver, Okla.

After he retired, he was a consultant for Panhandle Vet Supply in Childress, a wholesale drug company he and other veterinarians in the Texas Panhandle established. He was a charter member and past president of the American Association of Bovine Practitioners and a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association. He also was selected as a distinguished alumni of the Department of Veterinary Medicine at Texas A&M University.

He was a member of Follett United Methodist Church and served eight years on the Follett Independent School District board of trustees.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of almost 63 years; and son-in-law, Kay A. Kunka.

Survivors include a brother, Dr. Harold D. Ivie of San Mateo, Calif.; four daughters, Sharon Kunka of Marion, Susan and David Kirby of Amarillo, Carol and Jim Hagg of Perryton and Teresa and Orville Robison of Follett; seven grandchildren, Kathryn and Gerald Bechtel and Sheryl and Ross Levingston, all of Marion, Michael and Ashley Hagg of Bay City, Kristen and Brandon Davis of Perryton, Eric and Katie Robison of Follett and Dirk and Margie Robison of Groom; a stepgranddaughter, Jenifer Dennis of Amarillo; 12 great-grandchildren, Carrie Ivie Wilbert and Ryan Bechtel, Quinton and Payton Levingston, Dalton and Tye Robison and Dylan and Clara Robison; and four stepgreat-grandchildren, Tifany Kirby, Krystal and Corey Dennis, all of Amarillo and Matilda Noah of Austin.

The family suggests memorials be to Follett Educational Corp., in care of Follett Interbank, P.O. Box 8, Follett, TX 79034.
