Bert Chandler, 76, of 1820 Boyd, died Monday in St. Anthony's Hospice in Amarillo.

A retired field operator for Phillips Petroleum Company, he was a native of Adair, Okla., and a Borger resident for 47 years.

He was a member of the Fairlanes Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Betty; two daughters, Mary Jane Smith of Alpine and Joan Peiffer of White Deer; two brothers, Blue Chandler of Siloam Springs, Ark., Bill Chandler of Amarillo; one sister, Nell Burton of Tulsa, Okla., three grandchildren.

Services are pending with Ed Brown & Sons Funeral Directors.

BORGER - Mittie B. Chandler, 95, died Wednesday, July 16, 2008, in Amarillo.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Highland Park Cemetery with the Rev. Monte Kreis, pastor of First Methodist Church in Canadian, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Lane Garden in the Cemetery by Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.

Mrs. Chandler was born Aug. 27, 1912, in Hackett, Ark. She lived in Phillips from 1941 to 1993, and then moved to White Deer and Edinberg for 13 years.

On April 11, 1937, she married Bert Chandler in Oklahoma City. She was a member of First Baptist Church in White Deer.

She was a registered nurse and had worked for North Plains Hospital and was a school nurse for Phillips Schools. She loved her grandchildren, reading her Bible, embroidery work and quilting.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1987.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary Jane Smith and husband Bob of Lyons and Joan Pieffer and husband Lyle of White Deer; three grandchildren, Tammy and Archie Boothe, Jackie and Margie Gray and Leigh Anne and Ricky Poole; and five great-grandchildren, Nikki Poole, Kendra Poole, Jacob Gray, Jared Gray and Chandler Gray.

The family suggests memorials be to Heritage Convalescent Home building fund, 1009 Clyde St., Amarillo, TX 79106.
