J. B. Oney, 85, a longtime Paducah and Wellington resident passed away Saturday, May 9, 2009
in Cleburne, TX.

GRAVESIDE service is scheduled for 11;00 am Tuesday April12th in the Paducah Garden of
Memories Cemetery. Family members will officiate. Family visitation will be Monday, May 11th
from 6 till 8 pm at Seigler Funeral Home of Paducah.

JB was born Aug 31, 1923 in Marshall, TX to Julian Bruce and Annie Mae Oney,
JB joined the U S Army in 1943 and served in Central Europe during WWll. He also
served during the Korean Conflict and earned a Purple Heart in 1945.

He married the love of his life, Emily Ruth Cobb in 1946. they remained in Paducah
and raised their family. JB was a member of the Methodist Church and served
on their finance committee. He was instrumental in helping raise funds for the new church.
He was also a member of the Paducah Volunteer Fire Dept. In his quiet time he enjoyed high school sporting
events, outdoor activities, hunting and fishing with his friends. JB was a life-long learner,
a self-taught, self-made (with God's love and support) successful, valued community member.

In 1962 the Oney's moved to Wellington where he owned and operated The Toggery Dry Cleaners and several coin operated laundries. He also served as Fire Chief on the Wellington V.F.D.

JB is preceded in death by his parents and one daughter Barbara Ruth Oney.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Emily Oney
One son and daughter in law, Bruce and Mona Oney of Cleburn
One daughter, susan Murphree of Austin
4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
