O. T. Owens Rites Held Here April 20
Funeral services were held April 20 in the Missionary Baptist Church, Paducah, for Onnie Thomas Owens, 76, a retired Cottle county farmer. Officiating at the services were pastor J. M. Stringer, and Ray Smith of Athens, Texas.
Owens, a Cottle county resident for more than 50 years, died April 18 at Childress General Hospital where he had been a patient for almost six weeks.
Born November 29, 1897 in Falls county, Texas, Owens came to Cottle county in the early 1920's. His wife preceded him in death in 1973.
He is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Larease Johnson and Mrs. Marzell Robinson, both of Paducah; Mrs. Floyd Whatley, Nera Vista, N.M.; and Mrs. Onaetta Davis, Santa Rosa, N. M.; two sons, R. L. and Hulen, both of Paducah; one brother, F. C. Owens, Athens; one half-sister, Mrs. Leona Bunch, Dallas; 23 grandchildren, 35 great-granchildren and 3 great-great-granchildren.
Pallbearers were Louis Bearden, Leon Brownfield, V. D. Whatley, Frank Taylor, Bob Ford and Woodrow Ross.
