Services for Freeman L. Chapman, 86, of 1316 S. Florida, were at 3 p.m. Saturday in Minton Memorial Chapel.

The Rev. Lyman Wood, pastor of the First Methodist Church, officiated. Burial was in Highland Park Cemetery.

Mr. Chapman, a retired driller, died Thursday evening in the local hospital.

A native of Barlow, Ky., he had been a Borger resident for 43 years.

Mr. Chapman was a veteran of World War I and a charter member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He is survived by his wife, Bertha; a daughter, Mrs. Jack Pirtle of Borger; two sons, Kenneth of Borger and Corky of Houston; two brothers, Bill of Midwest, Wy., and Dewey of Tulsa; four sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Edwards, Mrs. Anna B. Dunham and Mrs. Mary Jones, all of Salina, Kan., and Mrs. Bertha Dooley of Metropolis, Ill.; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The family is staying at 1505 Pellinore.

Pallbearers were Pat Davis, Gordon Nell, Jeff Pirtle, David Chapman, Pat Westerfield and Butch Tipton.

Honorary pallbearers were members of the Borger chapter of the VFW.
