Paul Louis Chilton, 87, of Houston passed away on August 25. At his request, a cremation has taken place. The family will conduct a memorial service in Borger, Tx at a later date.

Paul was born on November 6, 1927 in Amarillo, Tx to Roy Ezell Chilton and Blanche Whittington Chilton. The oldest of the three boys, he was raised in Phillips, Tx and graduated from Phillips High School in 1946. Paul was a Golden Gloves boxing champion while in high school. He then attended Panhandle Agricultural and Mechanical College where he played halfback on the football team.

Paul served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Alaska. He returned to the Texas Panhandle and married Ida Carolyn Adams on July 27, 1953 in Amarillo. Paul and Carol lived and raised three children in Phillips and later moved to Borger.

Paul worked as a chemist for Phillips Petroleum Company for 40 years. For more than 50 years he was a member of the Borger Masonic Lodge #1242, 32nd Degree.

Paul enjoyed playing golf, working in the yard, playing old Hank Williams tunes on his guitar, and he could beat all his grandchildren in a foot race well into his sixties.

Paul is preceded in death by his wife Carol, his parents Roy and Blanche Chilton, and his two brothers Donald and James "Merdy" Chilton.

He is survived by his son Dr. Carl Chilton and wife Connie of Borger, daughter Donna Brock of Panhandle, Tx, daughter Connie Chilton of Houston, Tx, grandson Paul Brock and wife Dianna of Amarillo, grandson Nick Brock and wife Heather of Midland, Tx, granddaughter Jamie Chilton Cummings and husband Brad of Borger. Paul is also survived by great-grandchildren Brice, James, JD, Ruby, Lucy, Juliet, Max, and one due in October.
