Services for Lawrence Binder, 76, of Ralls were held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 16, 1998, in the Ralls First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Russ Byard, former pastor, and now pastor of the Abernathy First United Methodist Church, officiating.

Burial followed in the Ralls Cemetery under the direction of Adams Funeral Home of Ralls.

Mr. Binder died at 6:38 a.m. Saturday, March 14, 1998, in Lubbock´s Methodist Hospital after an illness.

He was born on Nov. 21, 1921, in Ralls, TX, and married Dorthy Scroggins in Waco on April 23, 1947. He was a member of the Ralls First United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Goodwill Sunday School class, was a trustee of the church and a former member of the church Administrative Board.

He was a leader in the boy Scouts, 4-H, Future Farmers of America and was a Director and charter member of the Crosby County Livestock Show. He was a charter member of the Crosby County Artificial Insemination Breeders Association and also served on the Board of the Crosby County Fuel Association. He served in the Army (bushmasters) during W.W.II. He lived in the Ralls area all his life.

He is preceded in death by a brother, Leon Binder and by a sister, Ruby Gardner.

Survivors include his wife, Dorthy Binder of Ralls; two sons, Bill Binder of Hereford, and Bobby Binder of Ralls; a daughter, Sue Starkey of Ralls; a brother, Raymond Binder of Ralls; seven grandchildren.
