*Obituary
Ben Crump, Jr., 16-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Crump of Sanford, died late yesterday afternoon at North Plains Hospital as the result of injuries received when his car caught fire in the highway between Borger and Sanford.

Details of the tragedy remained the mystery they were yesterday, as no local officials had even been notified of the accident this morning and no witnesses were available fo questioning.

All that ould [sic] be learned by the reporter, with any degree of certainty, was that young Crump was driving the family car between here and Sanford late Wednesday night when it caught fire, with the origin apparently in the muffler. A drilling crew near-by reportedly saw the car in flames and rushed the critically burned boy to the local hospital, where he died last evening.

The assumption seems to follow that Crump was trapped in the flames and must have been dragged from the burning car by a member of the drilling crew. No fire alarm was turned in.

The youth is survived by his parents; three sisters, Mrs. Bernice Josefy, Granfield, Okla., Mrs. Marie Kelly, Sanford, Mrs. Bonnie Kurtzsinger, Kirkland, Wash.; and a brother, Jim Thomas of Sanford.

Arrangement are pending at the Blackburn-Shaw-Powell Funeral Home.
