BORGER - Hubert Wayne "Tubby" DeShields, 85, died Monday, March 31, 2008, in Amarillo.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Riverview Baptist Church with the Rev. Derryl DeShields officiating and the Rev. Jimmy Gillmore, pastor, assisting. Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery by Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors.

Mr. DeShields was born Feb. 12, 1923, in Beardon, Okla., to Brice William and Ida Faye DeShields. He worked for Phillips Petroleum Co. in the NGL section of the Borger Refinery and Processing Center until his retirement in 1982.

Survivors include two sons, Derryl Wayne DeShields of Berryville, Ark., and Michael David DeShields of Amarillo; a daughter, Gerry Diane Taliaferro of Summerville, S.C.; a brother, Jack DeShields of Cromwell, Okla.; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be to BSA Hospice, P.O. Box 950, Amarillo, TX 79105; or Cal Farley's Boys Ranch, P.O. Box 1890, Amarillo, TX 79174-0001.

FRITCH - Kittie E. DeShields, 68, died Thursday, May 19, 1994 in St. Anthony's Hospice in Amarillo.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Riverview Baptist Church with the Rev. Derryl DeShields of Pearl, Miss. and the Rev. Jimmy Gilmore, pastor, officiating.

Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery by Minton-Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.

A native of Oklahoma, she had been a Hutchinson County resident since 1947. She was a homemaker, and a member of Riverview Baptist Church.

She was a riveter and welder on Liberty Ships during World War II and a Red Cross volunteer for North Plains Hospital and Golden Plains Community Hospital from 1980 until 1985.

She married H.W. DeShields March 16, 1946 in Seminole, Okla.

Survivors include her husband, of the home; two sons, Derryl Wayne DeShields of Pearl, Miss.; and Michael David DeShields of Borger; a daughter, Gerry Diane Taliaferro of Summerville, S.C.; a sister, Bertha Jo Nichols of Burnet; 10 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Alton Cheatwood, J.D. Cheatwood, Leon McDonald, Jerald McDonald, James Cheatwood and Quinn Atkins.

The family requests memorials be made to St. Anthony's Hospice of Amarillo.
