Vigil services for Edward J. Gaydos Sr., 74, of Slaton will be at 7 p.m. today in Englunds Chapel.

Resurrection Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Joseph Catholic Church.

The Rev. Lawrence Hemp, pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church, will officiate both services.

Burial will be in Englewood Cemetery under direction of Englunds Funeral Service.

He died Saturday, Oct. 24, 1998, at Methodist Hospital.

He was born Oct. 8, 1924, in Wilson County and moved to the Slaton area in December 1945. He married Mary Wendel on Oct. 7, 1949, in Slaton. He was an auto mechanic and the owner and operator of Gaydos Garage, which was established in 1971.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the SPJST Order.

Survivors include his wife; six sons, Edward, Tommy, Mike, Mark and Allen, all of Slaton, and Timmy of Post; four daughters, Mary Ann Worley, Patricia Koonce and Linda Langford, all of Slaton, and Janice Chancellor of Big Spring; one brother, Bennie of Jourdanton; three sisters, Anna Kubacek of Woodrow, Clara Moudry of Citrus Heights, Calif., and Olga Mueller of Seguin; 21 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Mary Gaydos, 83, of Slaton died July 25, 2013. Graveside services will be 4 p.m. Monday, July 29, in Englewood Cemetery. Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton.
