Jack Evans, 79, died July 29, 2007, in Amarillo.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, at Highland Park Cemetery with Leonard Forsythe, pastor of Bible Baptist Church, officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.

Mr. Evans was born Feb. 23, 1928, in Perry, Okla, the first of 18 children born to Mark Evans and Bertha Evans. He was a resident of Borger for 17 years. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict.

He was a cook, a Baptist, a member of the VFW in Borger, and was a widower and the father of five children.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Si Dean Evans and David Evans; and three sisters, Mary Ruth Evans Jones, Jennie Louise Evans Durbin, and Barbara Ellen Evans.

Survivors include seven sisters, Marie Evans Pahula, Grace Elizabeth Livings, Virginia Willene Evans McElroy, Linda Sue Evans, Virgie Evans, Verda Evans Sisney, and Donna Gayle Evans Morrow; and five brothers, John A. Evans, Jim Evans, Jerry Evans, Larry Evans, and Bobby Joe Evans.
