BORGER - Neal A. Grubbs, 82, died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2007.

A service will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Calvary Baptist Church with C.W. Parker, hospice chaplain, officiating. Arrangements are by Brown Funeral Directors of Borger.

Neal A. Grubbs was born April 26, 1925, in Treadway to William M. and Essie C. Grubbs. His family moved from Texas to Arizona, where he graduated from Clarkdale High School in 1943. In 1944 he met and married the love of his life, Mary Lou Turner. They were married in Phoenix, Ariz., and were married 63 years.

He served as 1st Scout of the 88th division of the 5th Army and was awarded the Bronze Star for heroism in the battle of Po Valley in Sicily. After returning from the service, he joined Mary Lou in Medford, Ore., where he worked at the Rogue Valley Lumber Mill. In 1950, they moved to Borger, where he was employed by Phillips Petroleum Co. for 19 years. Upon retiring from Phillips, he and Mary Lou moved to Burns, Ore., where they managed the Ponderosa Motel for 12 years. In 1980, they moved back to Borger, where they owned and operated Mr. G's Beauty Supply. He also was a custodian at Calvary Baptist Church for five years.

He enjoyed coaching little league baseball, fishing, golf and music, even singing in the Bunavista Baptist Church choir. He was most proud of his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Roena, Kathleen, Lois, Eloise; and a brother Pike.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou; children, Buddy and wife Wanda and Patricia and husband Don; grandchildren, Leslie, Regina, Michelle, Karen and Kristie; great-grandchildren, Stephen, Christopher, Kirstee, Ricky, Kali, Kassie, Butch, Tara and Stuart; and companion Shadow.

The family is grateful for the loving care of the doctors and nurses at GPCH, Odyssey Healthcare, Christina Richmond and especially Uncle Muriel and Uncle Kenneth.
