Dora Beatrice Haney
May 05, 1925 - January 15, 2018

Dora Beatrice Haney was born May 8, 1925, and peacefully entered heaven on January 15, 2018. She was 92 years old.

Services are scheduled for 11:00 Thursday, January 18 at Fritch Church of Christ, under the direction of Burgin Funeral Home.

Dora grew up in Sentinel, Oklahoma as the only sister to four older brothers... the beautiful, dark-haired tomboy who never backed down from a good skirmish. Dora met her match – and her future husband – at a honky tonk in Cordell, Oklahoma. He was a steel guitar player and the lead singer of “Jack Haney and the Panhandle Playboys”. Dora and Jack quickly fell in love and slowed down just long enough to get hitched at the Wheeler Courthouse on their way to Borger, Texas in 1949.

Dora was always up for a challenge and absolutely fearless in her varied endeavors and careers. She earned the nickname “Yogi” as the star catcher for her women's softball team and was a scratch bowler. Her many jobs included: Big Rig Driver and Brick Hauler, Bra Factory Worker, Telephone Operator, Security Guard, Continental Trailways Ticket Agent, and Secretary for Foster Plumbing. A long-time employee of BISD, she became a familiar face and friend to several generations of Borger students, doing everything from janitorial work to taking tickets at sporting events. She is most fondly remembered as the original 'Momager', managing rock bands for her musical sons in the 60's and 70's. Without a doubt, her boys are her proudest accomplishment and greatest loves.

Welcoming Dora to heaven were her husband Jack, her parents Joseph & Alma Cox, and her brothers: Glenn Cox, Douglas 'Jiggs' Cox, Junior Cox, & Floyd 'Harold' Cox.

Looking forward to seeing her again are her three sons: Bob (wife, Sharon), Jackie, and Dickie (wife, Robin); six grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren and many beloved nieces and nephews. Until then, we will miss her laughing blue eyes, her GREAT BIG love, and her famous sweet tea – the only thing on earth that was sweeter than her.
