Funeral services for Cecil L. Hooks, 69, of 15 Coble in Phillips, will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the Gateway Baptist Church with the Rev. William S. Hobson, pastor, officiating.

Hooks died at 10:52 a.m. in North Plains Hospital. He was born May 28, 1905 in Hutto.

He had lived here for 32 years. He moved to this area from Hollis, Okla., an employee of Hutchinson County Precinct 2 as a heavy equipment operator for 14 years until he retired in 1972.

He was a member of Gateway Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Eva Lee of the home; two sons, Donald Wayne of Borger and Kenneth Ray of Rockwell; two daughters, Mrs. Jerry Graves of California and Mrs. Darrell Sargent of Phillips; five brothers, Claude Hooks of Borger, Charlie and Elvin Hooks both of Hollis, Okla., Alvin Hooks of Hurst, and Woodrow Hooks of Tucumcari, N.M.

Three sisters, Mrs. Lester Stallings of Hollis, Okla., Mrs. I.V. Warren of Rockdale, Texas, and Mrs. Bill Linkey of Jasper; 15 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Casketbearers will be Raymond Cunningham, Ben Colburn, Gene Lanham, J.E. Best, Raymond Smith, Noel Newberry, Murry Jennings, and Bill Griffin.

BORGER - Eva Lee Hooks, 83, died Saturday, June 20, 1998.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday in Minton / Chatwell Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Mark Stripling of New Life Assembly in Pampa officiating. Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery in Borger.

Mrs. Hooks was born in Lubbock and moved to Hollis, Okla., when she was 2. She married Cecil Hooks in 1932 at Hollis. They moved to Borger in 1942. She was a homemaker and attended First Assembly of God Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1974 and a daughter, Peggy Graves, in 1981.

Survivors include two sons, Wayne Hooks of Borger and Kenneth Hooks of Mount Vernon; a daughter, Doris Sargent of Skellytown; 12 grandchildren; 25 greatgrandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.
