CAMP PENDLETON, Calif (FHTNC) - Terry W. Humphreys, Fireman apprentice, USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Humphreys of 405 Brain, Borger, Tex., serving aboard the fleet ocean tug USS Sioux, took part in an amphibious landing on the beaches of Camp Pendleton, Calif., May 28.

The operation, known as "Twin Peaks," involved more than 60 Navy ships and 25,000 Marines and was the largest exercise of its type since January 1957.

Funeral services for Terry William Humphreys, 510 Michigan, will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in the Church of Jesus Christ, Latter-Day Saints with Ben L. Turpin, conductor and Elder Y.L. Waldrop officiating.

Humphreys, 23, died Wednesday night in North Plains Hospital from injuries suffered when the motorcycle he was riding crashed into a sign post and pickup truck that afternoon. The 6:45 p.m. accident occurred in the 400 block of E. 6th.

The impact of the crash threw Humphreys into a sign pole and he sustained head and chest injuries.

Surviving are the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Humphreys of Borger; a brother, Perry of Brawley, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. K. R. Irwin of Phillips and Mrs. J.R. Regna of Borger; and a grandfather, W.E. Thomas of Aline, Okla.

Interment will be in Highland Park Cemetery under the direction of Minton Mortuary.

Pallbearers will be N.F. Dyer, Y.L. Waldrop, F.S. Jordan, J.M. Banks, B.R. Hawks and W.J. Ray.
