Naomi Myrtle Ingram passed from this earthly life November 14, 2015. She was 95 years old.
She was born January 9, 1920 in Vivian, La to Mary Myrtle Moore Anderson and Newton Rufus Anderson. She was the youngest of five children. She was born at home and was so tiny she was placed in a shoe box near the fire for warmth. She attended Borger High School and was the first in her family to graduate. In 1946 she married Edward Ingram. Although he was the love her life the marriage failed and she never remarried.
She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings: her brother Newton Rufus Anderson Jr., Dub Anderson, and J.D. Anderson as well as her only sister Ella May Moore. She was a longtime employee of Southwestern Public Service Company retiring after 32 years.
She was a woman ahead of her time. She was both a wonderful mother and full time working woman when few women worked outside the home. She was devoted to her family and a Christian in her heart. She was known as Nana to her grandchildren and was famous for her chocolate chip cookie recipe dearly loved by her son-in-law. Her recipe is still being used by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved to travel and visited many places in the continental United States including but not limited to San Francisco, Yellowstone Natl. Park and Washington D.C.
She loved her garden and found great joy in planting and watching seeds grow and bloom. One frequent prayer she was often heard to say was “Lord, please just give me one more spring.” She was a member of First United Methodist Church and devout Christian lady who faithfully read her devotional each morning before breakfast. She leaves to treasure her memory her devoted son Wayne Ingram who was her patient caretaker in her final months, her daughter Lettie Dutton and her husband Bob of Midland, two granddaughter Robin Dutton-Cookston and her husband Jeff of San Francisco, CA and Lara Weber and husband Steven of Austin, TX. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank Debra Ferrell, Lupe Ramirez and Rosa Parks of Interim Home Hospice for the support and care they provided for the family in her final days. We also wish to thank the wonderful staff of Caprock Nursing Home. In lieu of flowers the family wishes you to consider donations to First United Methodist Church of Borger or the Opportunity Center of Borger.
A Celebration of life will be held 11:00am Wednesday November 18, 2015 at First United Methodist Church of Borger.
