BORGER - Floyd L. "Johnny" Jarnigan, 86, died Thursday, Nov. 27, 2008.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Brown Funeral Directors Chapel of the Fountains with Gene Kuhrt officiating. Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery.

Floyd L. "Johnny" Jarnigan, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather went home to be with the Lord on Thanksgiving day.

Johnny, as he liked to be called, graduated from Phillips High School in 1942. He immediately joined the U.S. Army Air Corps, where he served during World War II and received a Purple Heart and Bronze Star for his service on D-Day.

He was a faithful charter member of Fairlanes Baptist Church and a 32nd Degree Mason, Isom Lodge in Borger. He retired from Phillips Petroleum Co. after 45 years of service in 1985.

He was preceded in death by his father, William L. Jarnigan, and his mother, Dora Jarnigan, both longtime residents of Borger.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Ernestine Pryor Jarnigan; two sons, Steven and Randy; a daughter-in-law, Donna of Houston; a granddaughter, Jennifer Bolden and husband Lynnel; three great-grandchildren, Jubilee, Hosanna and Judah; a granddaughter, Mandi Baker and husband Dustin and great-grandchild, Joshua, all of Killeen.

Viewing will be until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.

HOUSTON — Ernestine Pryor Jarnigan went to join our Lord and Savior in glory on June 4, 2012, in Houston Texas. She was born on March 25th 1931, to Ernest Elwood Pryor and Otherine Brashear of Borger, Texas.

Ernestine ("Teeny" to her friends and family) was preceded in death by her loving husband, F.L. "Johnny" Jarnigan, parents, Ernest and Otherine, her brother, Rex and wife Glema, their infant son Wesley, and her most beloved dog, Muffin.

Ernestine leaves behind two sons, Steven L. Jarnigan and Randy Jarnigan, wife, Donna of Houston, two granddaughters, Jennifer J. Bolden and Mandi M. Baker, grandsons-in-law, Lynnel Bolden and Dustin Baker, great-grandchildren, Joshua, Jubilee, Hosanna, Judah and Ethan of Harker Heights, Texas. She is also survived by her cousins, Lucille Morrow of Borger, Dorothy and Mac Nolen of Hilsboro, Okla., and Dorothy Knoll of Borger and their families.

Ernestine and Johnny were charter and active members of First Baptist Church of Phillips (now Fairlanes Baptist Church Borger). While at the Phillips Baptist Church, Ernestine started the Girl's Ambassador (GA's) program and participated in many other ministries including "Bibles to Babies," hospital visitation and the Benevolence Fund Committee.

She was a wife and mother with a career as well. Following her duties in the Phillips School System and as a claims representative for a title company, she was honored to be the administrative assistant to Dean Darnell of Frank Phillips Junior College until his retirement. Thereafter, she was employed by and retired after 21 years from J.M. Huber Corporation, Hercules Division in Borger.

Her life was greatly enhanced by her service with the Desk & Derrick Club, where she served several years as an active member and president. She represented the organization at numerous conventions, events and field trips. She fondly remembers her fellow Desk & Derrick members in their travels to England, Los Alamos, Alaska and even an off-shore well.

Ernestine never met a stranger and endeavored to find common ground with all she met. For the last 3 ½ years, she was a member of Second Baptist Church in Houston, Texas, following her move to be closer to her sons after her husband passed. She often invited her friends to share her faith and visit with the "Live at Five" Bible Study class and Church, where she was endeared by many.

A graveside service will be at the Highland's Park Cemetery, 931 Sterling, Borger, Texas 79007, on Friday, June 9th at 10 a.m. Following the interment, family and friends are invited to a reception at Fairlanes Baptist Church, 3000 Fairlanes Blvd., Borger, Texas 79007.

The family expresses sincere appreciation to the staffs of The Forum Assisted Living facility, Colonial Oaks at Westchase Memory Care facility, the staff of Memorial City Memorial Hermann Hospital and Vitas Hospice. A special thank you goes to the members of the Live at Five Bible study class for their continued prayers and support.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests a memorial donation to the Winning Walk Ministry at Second Baptist Church, 6400 Woodway, Houston, Texas; Vitas Hospice Unit 517, 921 Gessner Road, East Tower-8th Floor, Houston, Texas 77024; or Benevolence Fund at Fairlanes Baptist Church, Borger, Texas.
