Dora Dean "Cookie" Plaster was born in Grimes County, Texas on August 3, 1888. She is the daughter of Emanuel Marion Plaster & Amanda Texian Crowson.

Ms. Plaster married Frank Monroe Cook in 1909 in Walker County, Texas. She died on February 13, 1973 in Huntsville, Walker County, Texas.

Dora was the FIRST female hired to work in the prison system in Huntsville, Walker County, Texas. There has been an exhibit at the prison museum in Huntsville honoring her.

According to some family members who knew her when they were children, it was hard to catch her without her rubber boots on.

She shares a headstone with her beloved son Angier Goree Cook. They are buried at the family cemetery in Bedias, Grimes County, Texas, located on private property.
