Opal "Pug" Hawkins, 101, of Amarillo, formerly of Sherman died Wednesday, March 3, 2010.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. today in Englunds Chapel Funeral Service of Slaton with Rex Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Englewood Cemetery.
Opal was born Feb. 28, 1909, in Desdemona. She married Oran Hawkins in 1924, in Gorman. He preceded her in death in 1954.
She also was preceded in death by two sons, Jimmy Hawkins and Larry Hawkins; four brothers; four sisters; and three grandchildren.
Survivors include five daughters, Peggy Prestridge of Vivian, La., Jean Branum of McKinney, JoAnn Dunman of Kingwood, June Winkels and husband Bryant of Sherman and Jannie Philley and husband Kent of Amarillo; two sons, Jerry Hawkins of San Antonio and Jack Hawkins of Frankston; a daughter-in-law, Betty Hawkins of Lubbock; 22 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
