SPRINGER, New Mexico - (Special) - A fishing trip to a northern New Mexico lake ended in tragedy Saturday when the 18-month-old daughter of a Borger couple was killed in a car accident.
Susan Adele Lacquement died of a fractured skull about an hour and a half after being admitted to a Springer, New Mexico hospital. She was injured when the car driven by her mother, Mrs. Carol Adele Lacquement, 34, went out of control and overturned 17 miles east of Springer on U.S. 56.
Mrs. Lacquement and another daughter, Ann Marie, 3, suffered shock, cuts and bruises. Her husband, Ralph G. Lacquement, 31, suffered a broken arm and shock. A hospital spokesman said Saturday night all were in "fair" condition.
State Policemen Dick Gibson said Mrs. Lacquement apparently fell asleep at the wheel. Gibson said the family had spent the night at Charette Lake on a fishing trip and was returning to Borger when the accident occurred shortly before noon Saturday.
The body of the little girl was taken to Erickson Funeral Home in Raton, New Mexico, and will be returned to Borger for funeral services which will be announced later.
The Lacquements live at 706 Missouri Street in Borger. Lacquement is an employee of the Phillips Chemical Company's Plains Butadiene Plant.

Graveside services for Susan Adele Lacquement, 18 months, are scheduled at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Highland Park Cemetery, with the Rev. Newton Daniel, pastor of Phillips Methodist, officiating.
Interment will be under the direction of Simpson Funeral Home.
Surviving are the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph G. Lacquement, 706 Missouri; a sister, Anna Marie; the maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Elliott, Dallas.
The infant died as the result of a fractured skull, received in an automobile accident that occurred near Springer, N.M., Saturday afternoon.
