*Obituary
One of Borger's original pioneers, a man who said he was called the first sucker of Borger because he bought the first two lots on Main Street when the townsite opened on March 8, 1926, E.L. "Curley" Lantron died Wednesday in the Veterans Hospital in Temple.

Lantron, 82, might best have been described as an enterpriser since he dealt in several types of businesses after coming to Borger including running a hotel, a drugstore, the city's first busline and a pipe and supply company.

Born in Alabama, Lantron grew up in the New Mexico-Arizona area. He participated in WWI, seeing action in Germany. While in France, Lantron was instrumental, along with 75 other men, in organizing the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

After his return to civilian life, Lantron went into the oil field equipment business which is what brought him to Borger in those first days in 1926. Widowed twice he also lost his only son in WW II.

He lived south of Stinnett until bad health forced him to move back to Borger at 723 N. Harvey last year. Services are pending at Ed Brown & Sons Funeral Directors.

Survivors include a brother, Walter Lantron of Mesa, Ariz.; a sister, Mrs. Ada Chandler of Mobile, Ala.; a grandson of Denver, Colo; a cousin, Bascom Lantron of Waco; and several nieces and nephews.
