Services for James Leon Herrin, 81, of Anton and formerly of Slaton will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 10, 2010 in Englunds Chapel. Interment will follow in Englewood Cemetery under the direction of Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton.
James was born on Jan. 30, 1929 in Iredell, Texas. He passed from this life June 8, 2010 in Lubbock.
James moved to Slaton in 1949 to work for the Santa Fe Railroad. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. James married Doris Gentry on Nov. 17, 1950 in Slaton. He worked for Atmos Energy for 36 years, retiring in 1985.
James is survived by his wife, Doris, of Anton; son, Victor Herrin of Lubbock; daughters, Sherry Roe of Houston and Cecile Bishop of Irving; sisters, Evelyn Hollingshead of Salt Lake City, Utah, Marie Russell of Waco and Billie Herrin of Arlington; along with eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral service for Doris "Sug" Herrin, 77, of Lubbock and formerly of Anton will be 2 p.m. Friday, November 27, 2010 in Englunds Chapel. Interment will follow in Englewood Cemetery and under the direction of Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton.

Sug was born December 5, 1933 in Lubbock County. She died November 23, 2010.

She attended Slaton schools. Sug married James L Herrin on November 17, 1950 in Slaton. James preceded her in death June 7, 2010. They lived in Slaton, Plainview and Anton. She was a homemaker.
Her survivors include her son, Victor Herrin; daughters, Sherry Rowe, Cecile Bishop; brothers, Robert Gentry and Bill Gentry; sister, Peggy Sullivan; along with eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
