Harvey Clinton Sanders was one of a special group of soldiers chosen to escort and guard Confederate President, Jeff Davis at the time of Davis' capture on May 10, 1865 in Irwinsville, Ga.
He was imprisoned for a year after this capture, and considered the last man from this unit to die.
The is a plaque in his honor 8 miles north of State Highway 8, New Boston Texas.
