*Obituary
Merle R. Lewis, age 24, died late Saturday afternoon as the result of internal injuries received in a car accident near Dixon Creek on the Pampa highway early Thursday morning. He had resided in Borger during the last five years.
He was a member of the Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Borger Methodist Church. Rev. J.B. McReynolds will conduct the services with Rev. J. Edmund Kirby officiating.
Pallbearers are Tom Leach, John Leach, William Reeves, George Warren, F.L. Cox and L.L. Cox.
Lewis is survived by his wife and two children, Hugh Elliott, age 3 and Frankie Gene, age one year and six months; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.H. Lewis of Lyman, Oklahoma; brothers James H. Lewis, Jr., who is in the Navy in the South Pacific, and Paul Lewis of Pawhuska, Oklahoma; sisters Mrs. Mary Trigle, Turley, Oklahoma, Mrs. Georgie Marshall, Pawhuska, Oklahoma and Miss Deryle Lewis, Lyman, Oklahoma; father and mother-in-law Mr. and Mrs. John Wedge of Skellytown, Texas.
The body is lying in state at the Carver Funeral Home.
