J.D Lipps, 66, died Saturday, Jan. 25, 2003 in Amarillo.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Minton Memorial Chapel with Zeb Sailor, minister of Stinnett Church of Christ, officiating. Graveside rites will be under the auspices of Adobe Walls Masonic Lodge No. 1355 in "Resthaven Graden" at Highland Park Cemetery under the direction of Minton-Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.
Mr. Lipps was born on March 13, 1936, in Borger. He graduated from Borger High School in 1954. He joined the Navy and was accepted to submarine school in New London, Conn. He served aboard the U.S.S. Razorback from 1954 to 1957 during the Korean War. He was an inventor, obtaining two patents from the U.S. Government. He was a member of the Church of Christ and Masonic Lodge of Ardmore, Okla.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Juanita Smith, step-father, Row W. Smith, and brother, Dale Allen Smith.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Lipps, of the home; a daughter, Tammy Argo, of Borger; a stepson, Mark Davis and his wife, Denise, of Amarillo; two granddaughters, MacKenzie and Madison Argo of Borger; and two step-grandchildren, Matthew and Ashley Davis of Amarillo.
The family will be staying at 119 Fairview.
Casket bearers will be Jim Johnston, Ben Bentley, J.R. Hood, Mark Davis, Eddie Brame and Terry Nix. Honorary bearers will be the Masons.
Mason members will meet at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Adobe Walls Lodge No. 1355.
