Services for E. M.Cate, Jr., (PaPaw), 76, of Shallowater, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, September 3, 2005 at the Lorenzo First Baptist Church with Rev. Dennis Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the Lorenzo Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Lorenzo.
Mr. Cate passed away Wednesday, August 31, 2005 in the Lubbock Health Care Center.
He was born September 13, 1928 in McKinney, Texas. On April 23, 1948, he married Thelma Nadine Mankins in Lorenzo. She preceded him in death September 24, 1989.
He was a member of the Lorenzo First Baptist Church. He worked as a truck driver for 30 years then worked for Lubbock Iron and Metal for 15 years. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the VFW. He lived in the Lubbock area most of his life.
Survivors include two sons and their wives, David & Brenda Cate of Amarillo and John and Wanda Cate of Shallowater, one daughter, Diane Cate of San Antonio, a brother, Don E. Cate of Granbury, a sister, Salley Davis of Dallas, Oregon, and 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
