Former Old Emma Resident Dies
Mrs. Ella Katie Carter 76, longtime Crosbyton resident and a former Old Emma resident, died at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Crosbyton Clinic Hospital.
Funeral services were at 2:30 p.m. Monday in the First Baptist Church in Crosbyton. The Rev. Ernest Stewart, pastor, officiated.
Burial was in Crosbyton Cemetery under direction of King Funeral Home.
Born in Collin County, she traveled to Old Emma by covered wagon in about 1900 and moved to Crosbyton in 1910. She was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Survivors include six daughters, Mrs. Elmer Reed and Mrs. Pete Parks, both of Lubbock; Mrs. Pete Hackley, Amarillo; Mrs. Dean Slaybough, Borger; Mrs. Fabin Lemley, Crosbyton, and Mrs. Bill Blackwood, Dallas; a brother, J.H. Davis, Sr., Lubbock; a sister, Mrs. R. I. Linn, Chula Vista, Calif.; 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
