Joe Davis Matthews, 71, of 719 Derr St., died at 8:20 a.m. Saturday at Golden Plains Community Hospital.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Bible Baptist Church with the Rev. Leonard Forsythe, pastor, officiating.

Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery by Minton-Chatwell Funeral Directors.

A native of Winsburg, he had been a Borger resident for 19 years. He was a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife, Odessa; five sons, David James, Haskell Truman, Jack Thomas, Jerry Wayne, and Jimmy Ray, all of Borger; three daughters, Alice Jo Lantz of Hemphill, Texas, Letia Jo Lantz and Altha Cross, both of Borger; five brothers, Andrew Jackson of Wildarado [sic], Roscoe Branblett of Albuquerque, N.M. Donald Bramblett, Tony Bramblett, and Billy Bramblett, all of Hedley; three sisters, Vera Ray Seamone of Texas, Juanita Brown of Hereford and Dink Holman of Midwest City, Okla.; 19 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and one step-granddaughter.
