*Obituary
Services for R.C. "Pop" Mayes, 89, of 719 Dixon, who died Wednesday in North Plains Hospital, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Pentecostal Holiness Church.

The Rev. R.G. Sloan, retired pastor, will officiate, and the Rev. Elvis Peck, pastor, will assist.

Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery by Minton-Chatwell Funeral Directors.

Mr. Mayes, a native of Louisiana, had been a Borger resident since 1929.

He was a retired employee of United Carbon and City of Borger, and a charter member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1789.

He was a World War II veteran.

Survivors include one daughter, Barbara Brown, Borger; a step-son, Truman Cox, Borger; seven grand-children and several great-grandchildren.
