Graveside Services for Kenneth Wayne Young, 76, of Paducah will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 15, 2016 at Garden of Memories in Paducah with Tommy Spencer officiating. Arrangements are under the care of Zapata Funeral Home of Paducah. Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 14, 2016 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Kenneth passed from this life surrounded by his family on February 12, 2016 in Childress.

Kenneth was born on March 13, 1939 in Sneedville, Tx to Elbert Kenneth and Jessie Pearl (Jolley) Young. He graduated from Paducah High School. He married the love of his life, Rue Potts on July 23, 1960. From this union they had two children; Terry and Glynda. He was drafted into the Army and served in the Big Red One-First Engineers. Upon his honorable discharge from the military, he and Rue returned to Paducah.

Kenneth worked for the Texas Department of Transportation as a Supervisor. He retired after being with them for 40 years. He was a member of Missionary Baptist Church, and TPEA. He was also instrumental in taking care of the John Colby Park.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 55 years; Rue Young of Paducah, his children; Terry Young of Paducah and Glynda Smith and husband Dr. Todd of Vernon, sister; Betty Wyant of Hernando, Mississippi, his granddaughter; Lauren of Dallas, his faithful companion; his horse, Walter, and a host of nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; Elbert Kenneth and Jessie Pearl Young, one brother; Charles Young, and two sisters; Nelda O’Neal and Kathy Hanks.
