Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 25, in Missionary Baptist Church of Paducah for Billy Ray Perkins, Rev. Keith Prather, pastor, officiated, and interment was in Paducah Garden Of Memories Cemetery under direction of Seigler Funeral Home.
Perkins, who was 68, died Wednesday, May 23, 2001, in a Lubbock hospital after suffering a heart attack. He was born November 11, 1932 in Navarro County, Texas to Johnny and Donna Lou Perkins. he moved to Paducah in 1948, and married Jean Johnson April 2, 1952 in Paducah.
He was employed by Cottle county as a equipment operator for the past ten years, and attended the Missionary Baptist Church in Paducah.
He is survived by his wife, Jean of Paducah; three daughters, Cynthia Diane Grant, Vernon, Sandra Jeannie McRae of Groesbeck, and Dana Leigh Perkins,Aspermont; two sons, Billy Wade Perkins, Sayre, Okla., and John Mitchell Perkins, Paducah; one brother, Don Ed Perkins, Childress, and one sister, Bernice Jeanette Starnes, Wichita Falls; 11 granchildren, and 2 great-granchildren survive also.
A daughter Vicky Lynn Perkins preceded him in death in 1975.
