Viola (Young) Moss Petty, 99, a longtime Paducah resident, passed away Thursday May 31, 2007 at the Paducah Nursing Center.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, June 3rd at the First Baptist Church of Paducah with Pastor Ronnie Lambert officiating. Interment will follow in Paducah's Garden of Memories Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Seigler Funeral Home of Paducah.
Viola was born July 13, 1907 in Bronson TX to Edgar and Idella Young. She moved to the Hackberry Community in 1925 and married Frank Moss on Nov 22, 1925 in Paducah, TX.
Frank passed away in 1964. She later met Elmer Petty and they were married in 1971.
Elmer passed away in 1984.
Viola was a Nurses Aid and worked at Richards Memorial Hospital in Paducah for 26 years.
She helped deliver many babies in Paducah. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and a retired member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her parents , her husbands, 2 sons Leland and Buford, 2 grand children David & Gene Fish, 1 great grandson Kendrick, 1 brother Homer and 4 sisters Vertie, Olive, Mollie and Thelma.
She is survived by her daughter, Edna Fish of Paducah, 14 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren.
