Final rites for Mrs. Ella Joe Parker, 73, of 102 B Avenue, Phillips, are at 2 p.m. Monday in Johnson Park Church of Christ with Gary Dennis, minister, officiating.

Interment in Highland Park Cemetery will be directed by Minton Mortuary.

Mrs. Parker died at 11:50 p.m. Friday in North Plains Hospital. A retired registered nurse, Mrs. Parker received her training in General Hospital, Wichita Falls. She was one of the first nurses in the early days of Borger, and was superintendent of Dixon Creek Hospital. She later worked at Pantex Hospital in Phillips where the late Dr. W.W. Brooks practiced.

She also served at North Plains Hospital for many years before retiring in 1949 due to a coronary attack.

Mrs. Parker was a charter member of the Church of Christ of Borger. The church was organized in a school building in the part of Borger that was called Isom. She was a member of Johnson Park Church of Christ.

Surviving are the husband, Fred, and son, Fred M. Parker Jr. of Lima, Ohio; stepson, Frank Donham of Lafayette, La.; stepdaughter, Mrs. Phyllis Smith of La Habra, Calif.; two brothers, Tom Dimock of Cathedral City, Calif., and Floyd Dimock of Cameron; sister, Mrs. Lily Waite of Lamar, Colo.; and seven grandchildren.

Casket bearers will be Ed Pennington, George Bundrick, Cleo Myers, Fuzzy Bonner, Bob Stephens, and H.B. Umbarger.

Memorials may be made to High Plains Childrens Home in Amarillo.
