William Edward Payne, 88, Borger, died Thursday, Aug. 6, 1992 in Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo.

Services are pending with Minton-Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.

A native of Greenville, he had been a resident of Phillips and Borger for 60 years. He was a retired instrument man for Phillips Petroleum Company. He was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church and the B.P.O.E.

Survivors include his wife, Onieda; two sons, James Payne of Sacremento [[sic], Calif.; and Morris Payne of Barstop; a daughter, Mary Jo Wood of Fritch; a half-brother, Clarence Ray Payne of Midland; a stepbrother, Fred McClurg of Lubbock; three sisters, Jonnie Davis of Olton; Lola Noyes of Hereford; and Myrtle Fromway of Amarillo; three half-sisters, Odene Helms of Arlington; Marie Sims of Logan, N.M.; and Clara Seal of Friona; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Oneida H. Payne, 93, of Borger, died Friday, Sept. 9, 1994 in Canyon Retirement Center in Amarillo.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in St. Peter's Episcopal Church with the Rev. William Houghton officiating. Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery under the direction of Minton-Chatwell Funeral Directors.

A native of Nacogdoches, and a longtime Borger resident, Mrs. Payne was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church and a retired seamstress for Borger Laundry.

She married William Payne in July of 1962. She was preceded in death by her husband, a stepdaughter, Mary Jo Wood on Aug. 27, 1994, and two brothers.

Survivors include two step-sons, James Payne of Sacramento, Calif., and Morris Payne of Bastrop; five step-grandchildren; and nine step-great-grandchildren.
