Elmar Gillaspie was born on July 17, 1925 in Walker County, Texas to Jessie Gillaspie and Mary Cole. He was the younger brother to Melvin, Lettie and William Gillaspie.
He married Joyce Allene Gillaspie in October of 1947; they divorced in 1974. They had 3 children according to records. Their daughter was named Robin Michelle Gillaspie (1963-1975). Two sons were born to this couple; Elmar Gillaspie Jr. and Frank Gillaspie.
He remarried in June of 1974 to Doris Mae Lewis in Montgomery County, Texas. He was 24 years her senior. Together they had 3 known children; Elmar Gillaspie III, Lynette "Jessie" Gillaspie, and Jeff Lewis Gillaspie.
Elmar was the uncle of Millie Ann Johnson Gasery.
Mr. Gillaspie died on August 20, 1995 in Montgomery County, Texas at the age of 70.
