Funeral services for Alice Coker Ward, 100, of Athens, are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of the Cooper Funeral Home of Athens with Dr. Bill Pemberton officiating. Burial will be in the Garden of Memories in Paducah, Texas on Friday, October, 10, 2008. She passed away Monday evening in Athens.

Mrs. Ward was born March 21, 1908 in Chandler, Oklahoma to her parents, Bob M. and Minnie Watson Coker. She was the last surviving child of these longtime residents of Henderson County. She attended schools in Athens and later attended schools of business in Dallas. She lived with her family in Cottle County for a period of time in the 1920's and returned to Athens where she married Keith B. Ward in 1933. They had resided in Paducah and Wichita Falls and returned to Athens in 1976.

Mrs. Ward was a member of the First Baptist Church of Athens where she was an active Sunday School Class officer. She was also an active member of the East Texas Auxiliary for several years.

She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Jack L. and Shirley Ward of Athens; Keith B. and Diane E. Ward Jr. of Alexandria, Virginia; niece, Fran McDonald of Austin; nephew, Bob McDonald of Athens; seven grandchildren and six great- grandchildren.
