Funeral services for Jerrall D. Smith Jr., 16, of 1423 Marigold St., Borger, will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Paul Taylor, pastor, officiating.
Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery under the direction of Ed Brown & Sons Funeral Directors.
Smith died at 1:20 a.m. Thursday in Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo, the result of a gunshot wound suffered Tuesday.
A student at Borger High School, he was found by his parents early Tuesday evening with a single wound to the head.
He was rushed by ambulance to Golden Plains Community Hospital before being transferred to Amarillo in critical condition.
Police released few details regarding the shooting Wednesday and Police Chief Mike Smith, no relation to the youngster, said with the youth's death, the investigation would be closed.
Smith, a member of the First Baptist Church of Borger, is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jerrall D. Smith, Sr.; one sister, Wendy Smith; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. George D. Smith; and a maternal grandmother, Mrs. T.W. Hawks, all of Borger.
