Russell Lee Steed was born on February 20, 1890 in Odenville, St. Clair County, Alabama to Lawrence Napoleon Steed and Sarah Drucilla Jones.
He is the brother of Lelah A. Steed Smith, Nila Bell Steed Gibson, James Garfield Steed, William Crow Steed, Geneva Josephine Steed Huneycutt and James Madison Steed.
In 1914, he married Pearlie "Pearl" Pauline Steed in Harris County Texas. From this union, there were 3 children; Mercedes Pearl Steed Finkelman (1915–1999), Nila Belle Kilman (1916–1998) and Robert Lee Steed (1924-2016). She is buried in Brookside Memorial Park in Houston, Texas.
After Pearl died, In 1938, Russell married Fannie Talitha Sullivan Joines; she had two children from a previous marriage when they got married. She is buried at Brookside Memorial Park in Houston, Texas.
Mr. Steed died on September 9, Sep 1963 at the age of 73 in Houston, Harris County, Texas.
