Ettie Fite was born on March 5, 1880 in Bonne Terre, St. Francois County, Missouri to Willis Edward Fite (1848–1937) and Sallie Ann Johnson (1859–1949).
She is the sister of Leslie Valentine Fite (1884–1884) and Lucile Clement Fite Armstrong (1898–1979).
In 1899, she married William Lloyd Browning (1866–1945). They are the parents of Verna Browning (1905–1983).
Mrs. Browning died on June 1, 1947 at the age of 67 in Alvin, Brazoria County, Texas. She was Widowed at her time of death.
