Funeral services for Sherri Lynn Stuebgen, seven-months old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. G. Stuebgen Jr., 105 Bunton Street, were to be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday from Calvary Baptist Church, Rev. Jeff Moore, pastor, officiating.
Burial was to be in Highland Park Cemetery under the direction of Ed Brown Funeral Director.
The infant died at 9 p.m. Saturday in North Plains hospital from burns sustained when a flash fire swept through the family's modest home about 5 p.m.
According to a report by the Borger Fire Department the baby was in a crib located in the kitchen of the house when the baby's mother stepped out of the house for a short trip to the store.
The father and a neighbor, J.D. Braden were standing in the front yard as the mother left the house. Within three minutes after Mrs. Stuebgen had stepped out of the door the father and Braden looked up to see smoke billowing from the windows of the home.
Braden rushed into the house through the flames and brought the child into the front yard.
An attending physician said the baby suffered third degree burns over 90 per cent of her body before she was rescued and rushed to the hospital.
Surviving are the parents; a brother, Roger, all of the home; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. L.G. Stuebgen and maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. C.W. Smith, all of Borger.
