Pliny Plaster was born in Bedias, Grimes County, Texas to William Middleton Plaster and Sarah Bonsel Phillips on May 13, 1881.
He is the brother of Zorilla Plaster Hall, Anabel Hess Plaster Bishop, and William Joseph Plaster.
Between 1905 and 1910, Pliny married Mary Elizabeth Hall. They had the following known children:
- Leona Elizabeth Plaster McGinty (1910–1984)
- William Theron "Boots" Plaster (1912–1993)
- Carlos Buford Plaster (1913–1972)
- Woodrow Plaster (1918–1965)
- McAdoo Plaster (1918-1992)
He was widowed at his time of death. Mary Elizabeth died 15 years before him. Mr. Plaster died on February 16, 1970 in Madisonville, Madison County, Texas at the age of 88. He and Mary Elizabeth are buried together at Bedias Methodist Cemetery in Bedias, Texas.

NOTE: Some relatives of the family say his first name was actually spelled PLYNY, and that the stone is wrong. Most documentation shows it as PLINY.
