Warren Edward Dixon was born on April 14, 1937 in Daytona Beach, Volusia County, Florida to Warren Edward Dixon and Ollie Virginia Butler. He is the brother Dr. Wayne McElveen and Cornelius McElveen.

The family relocated from Florida, and he grew up in Vauxhall, New Jersey. He later served his country from 1960 to 1975 in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was in the Special Forces. Mr. Dixon was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for his service.

Warren settled in Austin in 1972 and continued his education at The University of Texas, earning a B.A. Degree in Business Administration.

He married his first wife, Jewell La Verne Alexander in 1966 in Travis County, Texas and one son was born; Warren Edward Dixon III. He later married Ronda D. Thomas.

Major Dixon died on August 28, 2004 in San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas at the age of 67. He passed from this life after battling a long illness and surviving many obstacles, at Audie Murphy VA Hospital in San Antonio, Texas. Warren has been a lung transplant survivor since 1991.
