Bessie Marie Roller was born on February 6, 1928 in Louise, Wharton County, Texas to George Washington Roller and Thelma Grace Locke.
She is the sister of Jennie Lee Roller Womack (1923–2020), Effie Maybell Roller Peck (1926–2015), Jimmie George Roller (1932–1981). Betty Ruth Roller Womack
1934 – still alive in 2021), Vera Beatrice Roller Hope (1935-2020), and Gladys Roller Graham Davidson (still alive in 2021).
Bessie married Elmer Allen Hickman and they had 4 boys; James Allen, Roy Gail, Vernon and Clifford. Elmer. Roy and Vernon preceded her in death.
She was a hard worker for her entire life and loved cooking and cleaning. Her country home in Thicket, Texas was the summertime destination for all of her grandchildren. Roosters were her favorite thing to collect, and by "collect", I mean she had thousands of them. Granny made the BEST homemade ice cream and cast iron skillet pancakes you will ever taste.
My loving grandmother died on November 6, 2020 at the age of 92 in Seguin, Guadalupe County, Texas. She was living with my Uncle Jim and Aunt Fran before she passed away. We love and miss her every day.
