*Obituary
O.E. "Slim" Updike, 77, 609 S. Cornell, Fritch, died Monday evening in Golden Plains Community Hospital.
A retired gauger at Phillips refinery, he was a native of Humboldt, Kansas, and an area resident for 41 years.
He was a veteran of World War II serving in the Army, and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Fritch.
He is survived by his wife, Florence; three brothers, Ralph of Chanute, Kansas, Sam of Sweeny, and Edwin of Gilbert, Arizona.
Oliver Updike and Florence Kimbrough were married June 14, 1942, in Pampa.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Brown's Chapel of the Fountains, with Rev. Eddie Marcum, pastor, First United Methodist Church of Fritch, officiating.
Burial will be in the Highland Park Cemetery under the direction of Ed Brown & Sons Funeral Home.
