Three men were injured, one fatally, in a head-on automobile collision about 10 o'clock Friday night near the Silver Spray night club south of town, on Highway 117. Two are recovering in North Plains hospital after treatment there.

Roy Weatherford, 22, of Borger, suffered concussion of the brain, a crushed lung, and several cuts and bruises. He died in a local hospital at 10 o'clock last night.

Odell Martin, 20, Electric City, riding with Weatherford, received concussion of the brain, cuts, and bruises but was not seriously hurt.

Fred Burlew, 44, Pampa, who was driving alone in the other car, sustained several fractured ribs.

Burlew, coming into Borger from Amarillo, said that the cars crashed as both were coming over a slight grade. Martin, driving the car in which he and Weatherford were bound for Panhandle, said he was blinded by the lights of Burlew's machine as he came over the hill.

H.L. Davis, taxi driver, brought Martin and Weatherford to the hospital in his cab. Both were unconscious when he started to town, but Martin came to at intervals on the way in, Davis said.

Burlew was carried to the hospital by a boy and a girl, whose identity was not learned.

Both cars were demolished. Members of the sheriff's department investigated the accident.

Weatherford is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. M.B. Weatherford; five brothers, Raymond, 20, Melvin, 17, Elmer, 11, Milton, 9, Clarence, 6; and two sisters, Ada, 12, and Mary, 2.

Mr. Weatherford is employed at the Crescent Carbon Company.

The body is at the Carver Funeral Chapel, where funeral services will be held sometime tomorrow afternoon. Interment will be in Highland cemetery.
