James Jerome Witt, 79, passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2013.

Funeral service will be held 2 pm Thursday, April 11, 2013 in Minton Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at Highland Park Cemetery under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. His memory may be honored with a gift to Make-a- Wish, 411 S. Fillmore St., Amarillo, Texas, 79101, St. Jude, 322 N. Lauderdale, Memphis, Tennessee, 38105 or a charity of choice.

He was born November 30, 1933 in Athens, Tennessee to Henry and Lydia Witt. James had been a Borger resident since 1960 and was a member of Union McMinn Baptist Church in Niota, Tennessee. He loved his grandchildren, bowling, television, playing cards and all sports. James enjoyed looking in on his neighbors to make sure they were doing well.

James is survived by his wife, Stella of the home; son, James J. Witt, Jr. and his wife, Lynne of Thornton, Colorado; daughter, Janice Gale Robinson and her husband, Danny of Lubbock; sisters, Fannie Monroe of Niota, Tennessee, Eunice McAllister of Cleveland, Tennessee, Affelene Smith of Florida; brother, Maynard Witt of Burnet, Texas; four grandchildren, Amanda Robinson, Holly Witt, Lacey Witt and Jerad James Robinson.
