Carroll Porter Adams, 62, died Friday, January 4, 1985 in Amarillo.

Services were held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the First United Methodist Church, Rev. Ernie McGaughey, pastor, officiated. Burial was in Wheeler Cemetery by Wright Funeral Home.

Mr. Adams was born in Wheeler and was a lifelong resident. He attended Wheeler Public Schools and West Texas State University. He was veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Coast Guard. He was self employed in real estate and carpentry. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and American Legion. He was married to Roberta Wales in 1942 in Wheeler.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Jimmy of Wheeler; a daughter, Bobbye Hill of Wheeler; a brother, Clyde of Plainview; two sisters, Bonnie Harmon of Alice and Winona Kongs of Fallbrook, Calif.; and six grandchildren.

Pallbearers were: Marshall Andis, Wayne Edwards, Ab Gunter, Harrison Hall, Bill Hampton, Jim Montgomery, Thurman Rives, N.D. Ware, Jr.

Roberta Amanda Adams, 68, died Tuesday, Dec. 27, 1988.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday in First United Methodist Church with Rev. Ernie McGaughey, pastor of Tulia First United Methodist Church, and Weldon Rives, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Wheeler Cemetery by Wright Funeral Home.

Mrs. Adams, born in Tucson, AZ. She was a graduate of Amarillo High School and West Texas State University. She did advanced studies at Western State University of Gunnison, Colo. She married Carroll Adams in Wheeler in 1942. He died in 1985. She taught from 1942-1980 in Wheeler County schools. Following her retirement from teaching, she was a library consultant for Region 16 Service Center. She was also a water safety insturctor [sic] and night and day duty worker for the American Red Cross. She was ogranizer [sic] and president Emiritus of the North Wheeler County Library. She was a charter member of the 54 Study Club and a member of First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a son, Jimmy Adams of Wheeler; a daughter, Bobbye Hill of Wheeler; a brother, Bill Wales of Lakeland, Fla.; a sister, Veeda Shaddon of Yakima, Wash.; six grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters.
