Doris Jean Ayres Hubbart, 81, of Amarillo died Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2008.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Southlawn Assembly of God with the Rev. Jerad Middaugh, pastor, and Dan Powers of Northside Assembly of God officiating. Burial will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday in Wheeler Cemetery in Wheeler by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Mrs. Hubbart was born Feb. 13, 1927, in Leicester, England, to Joseph and Frances Walden. She came over from England in 1946 as a war bride and became a naturalized citizen of the United States on June 21, 1963. She worked as a seamstress and bookkeeper. She married Clyde Ayres on July 28, 1945, and he later preceded her in death on Aug. 31, 1964. She then married Charles Hubbart on April 22, 1978. He preceded her in death on April 14, 2001. Mrs. Hubbart attended Southlawn Assembly of God.

Survivors include a daughter, Linda Clayton and husband Dennis of Amarillo; two sons, Brian Ayres and wife Faith of Amarillo and Gary Ayres of Amarillo; a brother, Frank Walden of Leicester; a sister, Margery Underwood of Leicester; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be to Susan G. Komen For The Cure, P.O. Box 50610, Amarillo, TX 79158; or Hospice Care of the Southwest, 1301 S. Coulter, Suite 404, Amarillo, TX 79106.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
